On June 5, Medical Research Institute/Frontier Science Center for Immunology and Metabolism of Wuhan University successfully held the 2021 Open Day. More than 130 undergraduates from universities across China participated in the activity.
The meeting was presided over by Professor Qing Guoliang. First of all, Dean Shu Hongbing, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, extended a warm welcome to the students participating in the activity and introduced the general situation of the Medical Research Institute, including its research fields, tutors, scientific research achievements, research platform, as well as the characteristics and advantages of recruiting and training graduate students.
Dean Shu said, “Medical Research Institute is a special platform of research and innovation for high-level talents of Wuhan University. It aims to gather outstanding research talents at home and abroad, provide first-class biomedical education for graduates, and devote to researching the biological basis of critical diseases and translational medicine.”
To deepen students’ understanding of Medical Research Institute, the Institute organized the students to visit the Equipment Sharing Center, Experimental Animal Center and so on after the meeting, and conducted communication between the tutors and student representatives. Thus, the students could have a glimpse of the outstanding research teams, first-class research platform, excellent research atmosphere and good learning environment.
After the visit, the students all expressed that they had gained a lot.
The purpose of this activity is to facilitate more students from other universities to experience and understand Medical Research Institute/Frontier Science Center for Immunology and Metabolism of Wuhan University. In the future, we will continue to hold such activities, to deepen their understanding of this fast growing center, with the aim to align itself with international standards.
