The School of Medicine organized its subordinate units to watch the live broadcast of Wu Yan’s report entitled Comprehensively Promoting the Innovative Development of Medical Education at 9:00 on October 14, which aims to promote the innovative development of medical education, strengthen the construction of medical disciplines, and constantly improve the quality of medical talents cultivation of Wuhan University on the basis of further understanding of the Guidance of the General Office of the State Council on Accelerating the Innovative Development of Medical Education. The watching activity was held in the school conference hall on the third floor of the office building, where many leaders, deputy directors, teaching secretaries, and teachers of School of Medicine, Second School of Clinical Medicine, School of Pharmacy and School of Public Health showed up. The School of Basic Medical Sciences, First School of Clinical Medicine, School of Stomatology and Medicine Vocational and Technical School respectively organized their faculty to watch the live broadcast. The teachers of each schools arranged their own watching at the offices without disturbing their regular work.

Wu Yan, head of Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, pointed out that medical education is an essential cornerstone of medical and health services, and the medical discipline plays a vital important role. Since the spread of China’s higher education has been largely expanded, the medical education, known as elite education, should accelerate the innovative development of China’s medical education. Its general idea embodies as three requirements, three combinations and four innovations. We need to face the new challenges of COVID-19 outbreak, facing the new tasks of creating a healthy China, and facing the new requirements of world medical development. We should also integrate the previous and the present positioning, the short and the long target, and the aspects of medical reform. Then, to lead the innovative development of medical education with new idea, new orientation, new connotation and new medical science.
