On 11th May, Times Higher Education (THE) released the second subject ratings in China. The ratings cover 90 universities in the mainland of China and 1,420 universities worldwide. The ratings adopt the disciplinary classification by the Ministry of Education of China, covering 89 disciplines from the A+ to C-.

Among the first-class university construction universities, 15 disciplines of Wuhan University were rated as A+, three of which is relevant to medicine, namely, Biomedical Engineering, Stomatology, and Pharmacy.

The ratings show that for most of the disciplines, the mainland of China outperforms the universities in the world. Overall, the average rating of Chinese universities is B+, while the global average is B.
