On August 17, on the official website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of PRC, the list of 5G Plus Medical Care Application Pilot Projects was published. Four projects of WHU had been selected, including the Construction and Application of Holographic Big data Platform for Emergency and First-aid Equipment Based on 5G Technology of WHU, the Construction and Application of Continuous Management System of Chronic Disease Based on 5G Technology of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, All Doctors--5G Smart Medical Solution Provider, and the Development and Application of Remote Collaborative Surgery Platform with Intelligent 3D Navigation via 5G Network of Hospital of Stomatology Wuhan University.

The Construction and Application of Continuous Management System of Chronic Disease Based on 5G Technology is a regional remote health management project led by Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, in collaboration with a number of science and technology enterprises and institutions. Based on WHU Cloud Medicine (Internet Hospital of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University), it aims to promote the implementation of Innovation Driven Medical Care Strategy. It made further exploration about the omni-directional and whole life cycle service mode of the health of residents in combination with 5G technology, the Internet cloud platform, wearable health equipment, artificial intelligence, healthy big data platform and so on.

The Cancer Center of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University launched All Doctors--5G Smart Medical Solutions Provider by integrating a series of high-end platforms for intelligent remote consultation such as Watson for Oncology. Being innovation-driven, it integrates scientific and technological resources, and applies big data smart medical technology to the treatment of cancer patients.

The Construction and Application of Holographic Big Data Platform for Emergency and First-aid Equipment Based on 5G Technology of WHU project was dominated by Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. It will promote the sustainable development of pre-hospital first aid and in-hospital emergency care, and improve the ability and level of first aid treatment. Thus, it will provide more accurate medical services for patients, and safeguard people’s health and life.

The Development and Application of Remote Collaborative Surgery Platform with Intelligent 3D Navigation via 5G Network is led by Hospital of Stomatology Wuhan University. It was selected jointly by medical and health institutions, telecom operating companies (above city-level), equipment manufacturing enterprises, software companies, medical apparatus and instruments companies and so on. In the field of 5G Plus Remote Treatment, Hospital of Stomatology Wuhan University was the only selected medical institutions in Hubei Province.
