On December 9, 2021, the Council of Chinese Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CCUGH) held an online meeting and voted unanimously that Wuhan University is to become the 5th Chair. Professor Xiang Hao, the Deputy Director of Wuhan University Global Health Institute, will serve as the president of the Consortium for a two-year term. The previous four chairs included Peking University, Duke Kunshan University, Fudan University and Sun Yat-sen University.
The Consortium was established on November 9, 2013, with 10 domestic universities as founding members, including Peking University, Peking Union Medical College, Fudan University, Kunming Medical University, Wuhan University, Duke Kunshan University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Zhejiang University, Central South University and Sun Yat-sen University. With the rapid development in recent years, there are 29 universities nationwide gaining the membership.
With the aim to share health resource, achieve complementarity, mutual promotion and overall improvement among Chinese universities, the Consortium works hard to promote scientific research, talent training, discipline construction, social service and international cooperation in the field of global health among members, and jointly solve the problems and challenges in the teaching and research of global health. In the future, the Consortium will focus on promoting the popularization and standardization of global health education, and organize training and activities in the field of global health at home and abroad, and continue to devote itself to the discipline construction and development in China.
