On the morning of March 30, 2021, Wuhan University School of Medicine (WUSM) organized a seminar on the construction of the demonstration courses about Ideological and Political Education in the Administration Building, focusing on reviewing and guiding the construction of two courses,"Clinical Pathology, Pathophysiology and Therapeutics" and "Clinical Ethics and Occupational Attitudes." The ideological and political education in medical courses was further arranged. Members attending the seminar included Jiang Xin, the Division Chief of Undergraduate College of Wuhan University and Director of Quality Management Division; Qiu Chao, the Director of Undergraduate College of Wuhan University; Chen Xunwei, the Executive Director of the Curriculum Research and Demonstration Center on Ideological and Political Education; Yu Xiangting, the Executive Deputy Director of WUSM; He Xiaohua, Deputy Director of WUSM; Yu Baoping, the Deputy Director of WUSM; curriculum leaders and teaching teams from the First School of Clinical Medicine and Second School of Clinical Medicine.
Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, WUSM adheres to nurturing talents with moral education, gives full play to the role of the teaching team and the main channel of classroom teaching, to better improve the construction of courses. It also strengthens guidance, optimizes resource sharing, and comprehensively promotes the ideological and political education in medical courses. The construction of the two demonstration courses was analyzed in the seminar and valuable suggestions were put forward on the construction mode, teaching content, and teaching methods innovation and on how to further explore the ideological and political education resources in the courses.
WUSM has intensified the teaching reform in recent years. It will spare no efforts to accelerating the construction of medical courses on ideological and political education based on the existing fruits such as the approvements of national first-rate discipline construction sites and national first-rate undergraduate courses, so as to set an example in view of the experiences, achievements, and models for similar courses. The ideological and political education will be integrated into the entire process of the talents training system, and the pattern of a highly involved all-around education system for producing talents will be built.
