On September 22nd, the first academic book Principles and Practice of COVID-19, both in Chinese and English, edited by Hu Ke and Ye Baixin from Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University (Hubei General Hospital) and co-authored by more than 100 global medical experts, was launched in Wuhan, China.

The book is divided into two parts, namely, Chinese part and English part, totaling more than 1.2 million words. It took 18 months to complete and publish this book, the participants of which included 140 Chinese frontline experts, experts from the medical teams assisting Wuhan during the pandemic, global scientists, and related professionals, including Chen Saijuan, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Cheng Genhong, member of the American Academy of Microbiology. The monograph systematically describes and discusses the research and clinical expertise related to COVID-19 by analyzing typical cases during the fight against the pandemic, covering epidemiological characteristics, pathogenesis, medical technologies and other fields.

Chen Zhu, the member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, prefaced this monograph, emphasizing that the publication of this book will not only provide a reference for global pandemic prevention and control and scientific research, but also offer insights for coping with potential pandemics in the future.

Dr. Gauden Galea, the WHO Representative in China, said, "China has accumulated abundant experience in the fight against the pandemic, which contributes a lot to the response to global pandemics. I am look forward to the publication of this book, which will demonstrate how to respond to the pandemics and the challenges ahead."
